South Bay- Palos Verdes Peninsula

Palos Verdes is a name often used to refer to a group of coastal cities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in southwestern Los Angles County.  Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills are the leading cities in the area, with a section of San Pedro extending onto the end of the peninsula. This affluent family community is known for its spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, magnificent homes,high-ranking schools, and horse trails.  There are several shopping centers near the area including The Promenade of the Peninsula and the Del Amo Mall. The Promenade features an outdoor mall with a movie theater, several restaurant options, and an ice rink.  Other popular areas for locals include Lunada Bay Plaza and Malage Cove. The Palos Verdes Peninsula is common for runners, hikers, horseback riders, bird watchers, surfers, scuba divers, whale watchers,and bicyclists.

The area where the Marineland  once stood and later served as an outdoor set for film productions is now home to the luxury oceanfront resort, Terranea. Close to the Terranea is Donald Trump’s Trump's National Golf Course on the Ocean Trails cliffs.

The South Bay is a region of the southwest peninsula of Los Angeles County. It stretches along the southern shore of Santa Monica covering the coastal regions on Los Angeles County south of Los Angeles International Airport which forms its western border. It includes the Beach Cities-Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach; El Segundo; Palos Verdes Peninsula; and Torrance. The term South Bay is more commonly referred to as "near the ocean," while not as accepted in the inland portions of the South Bay-Hawthorne and Lawndale. The Pacific Ocean borders the region on the south and west.

Local freeways include the 110, 405, 91, and the 105.
